The Institute of Urban Designers India (IUDI) offers membership to eligible candidates in the following categories.

Professional Memberships:

Fellows

For Urban Designers (at least  35 years of age) who have been an Associate of the Institute for at least 5 years or have an equivalent recognised postgraduate degree/diploma or involvement in the field of Urban Design.

(c) On the date of her/his application, the candidate shall satisfy the Council or Executive Committee of her/his experience in Urban Design as prescribed by the Council from time to time; and
(d) Candidate who has graduated in the field of Urban Design from a foreign university/ institution, shall have a degree/ diploma from an approved list of universities / institutions duly recognized and approved by the Council. In case a candidate has a degree from an institute not listed in the Institute’s approved list their candidature shall be considered by the Council after assessment of the courses undertaken satisfactorily in the field of Urban Design. Assessment for membership shall be based on alignment with a curriculum approved in the General Body meeting or as approved by a majority of the Executive Council members.

 

Member Fees Structure: 

 

Enrolment fee (Paid once) : Rs. 6,500/‐
Annual Subscription (1 Year) : Rs. 3,000/‐
Long term Subscription (10 Year) : Rs. 27,000/‐ (10% Discount)
Lifetime membership (Paid once) : Rs. 45,000/‐

Associates

For Urban Designers (at least 25 years of age and not registered as a student with an educational institution) and have attained an approved standard of proficiency in matters relating to Urban Design.

(c) Candidate shall have a design or equivalent postgraduate degree/recognized diploma in Urban Design recognized by the Council or Executive Committee; and
(d) Candidate who has graduated in the field of Urban Design from a foreign university/ institution, shall have a degree/ diploma from an approved list of universities / institutions duly recognized and approved by the Council. In case a candidate has a degree from an institute not listed in the Institute’s approved list their candidature shall be considered by the Council after assessment of the courses undertaken satisfactorily in the field of Urban Design. Assessment for membership shall be based on alignment with a curriculum approved in the General Body meeting or as approved by a majority of the Executive Council members.

 

Associates Fees Structure: 

 

Enrolment fee (Paid once) : Rs. 4,500/‐
Annual Subscription (1 Year) : Rs. 1,800/‐
Long term Subscription (10 Year) : Rs. 16,200/‐ (10% Discount)

Honorary Fellows

IUDI offers this membership to candidates who are nominated and elected in accordance with the criteria mentioned in the IUDI’s Memorandum of Association (MoA).

(c) On the date of her/his application, the candidate shall satisfy the Council or Executive Committee of her/his experience in Urban Design as prescribed by the Council from time to time; and
(d) Candidate who has graduated in the field of Urban Design from a foreign university/ institution, shall have a degree/ diploma from an approved list of universities / institutions duly recognized and approved by the Council. In case a candidate has a degree from an institute not listed in the Institute’s approved list their candidature shall be considered by the Council after assessment of the courses undertaken satisfactorily in the field of Urban Design. Other Membership Categories:

Student Member

For Urban Designers (at least 22 years of age) who have successfully completed the course leading to university examination at a postgraduate level, but have yet to get a degree from the Institution or University. 

Affiliate Member

For those who belong to an allied discipline or profession engaged in the fields of urban or rural development or any other related spheres recognised by IUDI, and who, in the opinion of the IUDI Council, have taken a special interest in Urban Design.

Institutional Member

For any institution, academic body, research organisation, journalism group, non-governmental organisation, government agency or department, or any other organisation that is directly engaged in the fields of urban or rural design/ development or any other related spheres recognised by the Council.

Corporate Memberships:

Public Sector

For a public sector business house, an industrial or corporate organisation, a design studio, an event management firm or any other organisation as the Council may deem fit, engaged in the fields of urban or rural design/ development or any other related spheres recognised by the Council

Private Sector 

For a private sector business house, an industrial or corporate organisation, a design studio, an event management firm or any other organisation as the Council may deem fit, engaged in the fields of urban or rural design/ development or any other related spheres recognised by the Council

Want to Sponsor an Applicant?

An application for election to membership in any category, other than Honorary Member, can be sponsored by not less than three Professional members of the Institute and in the case of studentship by not less than two Professional members of the Institute, of whom at least one shall be a Fellow, who, from personal knowledge of such candidates, should certify that the candidate satisfies the necessary qualifications.

 

An Associate desirous of becoming a Fellow or a qualified student desirous of becoming an Associate should forward to the Secretary an application in the prescribed format, and with the prescribed fee, signed by not less than two members of whom one shall be a Fellow.

 

Where a candidate for Professional, Affiliate or Student Membership is not personally known to any member, the Council or Executive Committee may, if they are otherwise satisfied with the eligibility of the candidate, disregard the need for the certificates of personal knowledge by a resolution voted by a majority of the Council or Executive Committee members.

Student Member

The Council may elect to be a Student Member a person who: –
(a) is at least 22 years of age;
(b) has successfully completed the course leading to university examination at a postgraduate level, but is yet to get a degree from the Institution or University

(c) (i) has commenced a course of study in Urban Design at a postgraduate level leading to a recognized diploma or university degree; or
(ii) has commenced study in Urban Design from an institute recognized by the Council for the purpose of this section; or
(iii) is studying in Urban Design under the supervision of a Fellow, Associate or a person whose qualifications, in the opinion of the Council, are the equivalent of Fellow or Associate.

 

A person may be a student member for not more than three years and in case he or she qualifies for Associate Membership shall be elected to the Institute on the recommendation of the Council or Executive Committee subject to submission of requisite application as per criteria for admission to membership.

 

Student Membership Fees Structure:

Enrolment fee (Paid once) :Rs. 1200/‐
Annual Subscription (1 Year) : Rs. 400/‐

Affiliate Member

The Council may elect, to be an Affiliate Member, a person who:
(a) belongs to an allied discipline or profession engaged in the fields of urban or rural development or any other related spheres recognized by the Council, and who, in the opinion of the Council, has taken a special interest in Urban Design; and
(b) by means of either her/his position or experience, appears to the Council to be able to render assistance in promoting the objects of the Institute.

 

Such members, if elected, will not have voting rights for any matter of the Institute and such an election will be duly approved by the General Body as per the criteria for admission to membership.

 

Affiliate membership Fees Structure: 

Enrolment fee (Paid once) : Rs. 7,500/‐
Annual Subscription (1 Year) : Rs. 4,000/‐
Long term Subscription (10 Year) : Rs. 36,000/‐ (10% Discount)

Institutional Member

The Council may elect, to be an Institutional Member:
(a) any institution, academic body, research organization, journalism group, non governmental organization, government agency or department, or any other organization, that is directly engaged in the fields of urban or rural design/ development or any other related spheres recognized by the Council; and
(b) who, in the opinion of the Council, may be able to render assistance in promoting the objects of the Institute.


Such members, if elected, will not have voting rights for any matter of the Institute and such an election will be duly approved by the General Body as per the criteria for admission to membership.

 

Institutional Membership Fees Structure:

Enrolment fee (Paid once) : Rs. 60,000/‐
Annual Subscription (1 Year) : Rs. 18,000/‐
Long term Subscription (10 Year) : Rs. 1,62,000/‐ (10% Discount)

The Council may elect, to be a Corporate Member,
(i) any business house, industrial and corporate organization, a design studio or an event management firm, whether public sector or private, or any other organization as the Council may deem fit engaged in the fields of urban or rural design/ development or any other related spheres recognized by the Council; and
(ii) who, in the opinion of the Council may be able to render assistance in promoting the objects of the Institute.

 

Such members, if elected, will not have voting rights for any matter of the Institute and such an election will be duly approved by the General Body as per the criteria for admission to membership.

The Council may elect, to be a Corporate Member,
(i) any business house, industrial and corporate organization, a design studio or an event management firm, whether public sector or private, or any other organization as the Council may deem fit engaged in the fields of urban or rural design/ development or any other related spheres recognized by the Council; and
(ii) who, in the opinion of the Council may be able to render assistance in promoting the objects of the Institute.

 

Such members, if elected, will not have voting rights for any matter of the Institute and such an election will be duly approved by the General Body as per the criteria for admission to membership.
